Bar Abstains from Duties in Protest Against Police Atrocities on Advocate at Hindupur
The Governing Body of the Bezwada Bar Association unanimously resolved that all members of the Association shall abstain from duties on 03.08.2026, in protest against a recent incident involving an Advocate at Hindupur wherein a practising Advocate was assaulted and subjected to abusive and humiliating treatment by police personnel, despite they being fully aware that the victim was an Advocate.
The recurring incidents of police excesses and atrocities against members of the legal fraternity are despicable and such incidents strike at the dignity of the legal profession and undermine the administration of justice. The abstention is intended to condemn this disturbing pattern of police misconduct against Advocates and to demand fair, impartial and expeditious action against those responsible.
The Governing Body appeals to all members of the Bar to extend their cooperation and respectfully requests the Hon'ble Judicial Officers to kindly extend their kind indulgence and cooperation.
